Cultural and Artistic Education Center，School of Arts，Nanjing University was established in June 1996, which is an Education andresearch institution carrying out public education in culture and artfor the whole school.Ithas a leading position in similar institutions of national collegesand universities, and has a wide range of international influence.
Themain tasks undertaken by the Center are follows:
Offerpublic courses of art for all students;
Organizelectures and exhibitions of arts and humanities;
Guidethe activities of college students' art clubs;
Participatein the construction of campus culture;
Carryout academic research in the field of art and art education;
Cultivatedoctoral and master students majoring in art education;
Inheritand carry forward intangible cultural heritage.
Formore than 20 years, The Center offers more than 40 public courses ofhumanities and art for all students,includingthree categories: art theory, art appreciation and art practice,covering music, dance, drama,fine arts, film and television, art theory and intangible culturalheritage. These courses are widely welcomed by students.
Asan extension of classroom teaching, the center has guidedanumber of student art club activities, such as Sunshine Dance Club,Sunshine Drama Club, Painting and Calligraphy Association, ThePhotographic Society, Linquan Piano Club, Yongyule crosstalk Club,Micro film Association and Purple Sand Art Association.Thecenter also led these clubs to participate in various national andprovincial college students' art competitions and art exhibitions,winning more than 200 awards and honors for the school.TheCenter has also led the clubs to visit the United States, France,Britain, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan,Hong Kong and Macao for many times, and has established extensivecontacts with dozens of international colleges and universities ofart education institutions.
The center holds theseries lecture of Humanities and Arts of Nanjing University all year round, and invites famous scholars and artists at home andabroad to give academic lectures or carry out art activities, whichhas been held successfully formore than 460 times in the past 20 years,becominga unique and beautiful scenery of Nanjing University.The High Art on CampusCampaign initiated by the center in its early years hasinfluenced the whole country. The center invites excellent performinggroups to perform in the school and holds high-level art exhibitionsevery year, which enriches the campus cultural life and spreadsexcellent culture.Thecenter has also set up The off-campus College Students'Cultural Quality Education Base of Nanjing University inJiangsu Province Performing Arts Group, Gaochun Ceramics Group,Nanjing Yunjin Research Institute, Nanjing Museum and Yixing HongxingZisha Art Studio.
Thecenter has excellent teaching staff and reasonable personnelstructure. We have 7 full-time teachers, including 2 professors and 4associate professors. The teachers of the center are not only engagedin undergraduate teaching and postgraduate training, scientificresearch in the field of art education, but also engaged in artisticcreation activities. Many teachers have won more than 10 national The Best Works Award , Wenhua Award, FlyingAward, Star Award, Virtue and Art Award. Thecenter also has more than 10 distinguished professors and more than10 distinguished artists, has hosted national and provincial academicconferences for many times, and undertaken dozens of national andprovincial scientific research projects.Thecenter also has more than 10 adjunct professors and more than 10distinguished artists. With doctoraland master's programs in art education, the center is an importantbase for cultivating senior talents in public art education amongsimilar institutions of higher learning in China. Currently, thereare 3 doctoral candidates and 15 masters candidates. In 2003, thecenter was rated by the Ministry of Education as NationalCollege Students' Cultural Quality Education Base. In 2016, itwas rated as Chinese Excellent culture and art inheritance Base- Zisha Art Inheritance Base by the Ministry of Education. In2010, it was named National Advanced Unit of Art Education inColleges and Universities.
Asthe secretariat of the Provincial Art Education Research Institute,the Center also undertakes the assessment and guidance of public arteducation in provincial colleges and universities, the evaluation ofthe Art Performance Activities of Jiangsu University, andthe Organization and review of the Sunshine Campus microfilm excellent works competition of college students in JiangsuProvince.As the ArtEducation Teacher Training Base for Colleges and Universities inJiangsu Province, it organizes art teacher training forcolleges and universities in Jiangsu Province every year.Atthe same time, it is also the JiangsuProvince for Continuing Education of Professional & TechnicalPersonnel granted by Jiangsu Provincial Department of HumanResources and Social Security, carrying out the training of top-levertalents in the field of art, which has a wide range of socialinfluences.
In 2017, the Culture and ArtEducation Center received a donation of one million yuan from Mr. LvJunjie, a master of Chinese purple sand art, to set up the Junjie Art Scholarship of Nanjing University . This scholarshipis awarded to students of the university who have achievedoutstanding achievement in arts activities at the national,provincial and university levels.
In 2018, Ms. Shen Lu donated one million yuan to establish MuseArt Fund of Nanjing University in Nanjing University, which isused for the faculty and students of the school to go abroad for artresearch, investigation and observation activities, which has been toJapan, Taiwan and other places for three times to carry out artactivities.
