The School of Arts of Nanjing University began to take in postgraduate students in 2017. Currently, there are 209 registered students, including 57 doctoral candidates and 152 master’s students, among whom is one international student. The graduate education of the school falls into three categories, namely, full-time academic master’s students, full-time professional master’s students and part-time professional master’s students, with 97, 51, and 4 students respectively.
The School of Arts offers full-time academic master’s students with two options of majors: Theory of Art & Culture and Fine Arts. There are three research fields in Theory of Art & Culture: art history & cultural studies, art communication & cultural creativity, and art education & cultural inheritance. The Fine Arts major has six subject areas, namely, the theory of fine arts, sculpture, oil painting, Chinese painting, calligraphy and modern decoration & design. Professional master’s students are taught in the major of Fine Arts, featuring fivesubject areas, namely, sculpture, oil painting, Chinese painting, calligraphy, modern decoration & design.
There are three majors available for master’s students, namely, Theory of Art & Culture, Fine Arts, and MFA. The number of graduate students totals around 50 every year.
Regarding the enrollment of doctoral students, there are 12 doctoral supervisors in the major of Theory of Art & Culture and 10 doctoral supervisors for enrollment. About 14 doctoral students are enrolled every year.
